Forest County 4-H Grows Here!

Join Forest County 4-H for our very first Sunflower Growing Competition!

This contest is free and open to all youth in Forest County ages 5-19. If you are a teacher, 4-H Club leader, or other youth leader in Forest County, you can register the youth in your class, club, or group.

We will mail a packet of five sunflower seeds and growing instructions for each registered youth beginning in April. For teachers, 4-H Club leaders, and other youth leaders, we will mail you individual packets of seeds for the total number of youth you register and let you distribute them.

Seeds should be planted between June 1st and June 15th. We will follow up with youth throughout the summer with hints and tips about growing sunflowers. If everything goes correctly, your flowers will bloom in late August and September. Prizes will be awarded to youth for the tallest plant and largest bloom.  Participants will be required to have a 4-H Leader and/or Extension staff member witness and sign-off on the final measurement in September of 2022.

Registration for this contest is required so that we may mail you the seeds and contest rules.  Please register here  or by calling Michelle at 715-478-7797 and leaving your name and address.

If you have any questions, please call Michelle at 715-478-7797.
