The Local Connection

People. Ideas. Action. A Stronger Forest County.

The Local Connection brings together local data, community perspectives and opportunities to get involved in shaping Forest County’s future.

Housing Is the Headline

The Conversation Starts Here.

Housing is the first community priority being explored through The Local Connection. Forest County residents will come together to examine local data, share experiences and identify potential actions to address housing needs.

The Community Assembly on Housing is the beginning of a broader community-led planning process. What we learn will help guide working groups that will develop strategies, actions and measures of progress as part of a Forest County Community Development Action Plan.

Saturday, November 7, 2026
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Forest County Courthouse, Crandon

Thirty-six Forest County residents will come together to consider local information, share perspectives and explore this question:

“What should Forest County and its community partners do to expand affordable housing options for current and future residents?”

Residents are being selected through a random process designed to bring different perspectives and experiences to the table.

Not selected? We still want your input.

There are additional opportunities to participate, including the Community Economic Development Preparedness Index and upcoming community working groups.
